Almost Athens
Over the weekend, Scott and I should have been going to Athens. Well, we spent two days planning where we would go, which flights we would take, where we would stay and getting the green light for time off work before deciding that we should use the money to book a really good wedding videographer instead.
Being a grown up sucks!
So, instead of sunning it up in Greece, we spent the long weekend in Finland. It was the Midsummer weekend and with most of the shops and bars shut, we were left to entertain ourselves.
Warning, this will be a very picture-heavy post. (We had a lot of time on our hands!)
On Friday, the weather was dull and miserable so we kicked the diet to the curb and made these delicious, homemade beef burgers. We've been trying really hard to maintain our healthy eating plan lately but we couldn't resist some good, old comfort food.
On Saturday evening, we decided to take a late drive out to catch some Midnight sun. We initially planned to drive over to the Russian border but we ended up detouring and staying more local. I still can't believe these shots were taken around 12am!
The mist made everything look so eerie.
On Sunday, we took a trip to the Langinkoski rapids, a nature reserve on the banks of the Kimijoki river. Despite it being a stone's throw from where we live, we'd never been before! It was all going so well until I walked face first into a huge web and my shrieks cut through the peace and tranquility like a hot knife through butter. I'm considering starting up a You Tube channel titled, 'Times I shit My Pants' as I'd be a regular uploader, plus Scott says I'm so ridiculous that I'd be highly entertaining.
After my ordeal, we decided to head home for an outfit change as the sun was out in full force. We headed down to the marina for Pimms and ice cream. A winning combination.
Dress - ZNU* // Sunglasses - Topshop (Similar) // Trainers - Nike // Hoodie - (Scott's) H&M
We also decided to let Hamish and Ralph have a frolic in the Finnish sunshine because we're good parents and all. Hamish had her diva 'tude going on as per. Those faces though...
Before we knew it, the long weekend was over and we'd, (sort of) forgotten about Athens. Now, if only you can keep these sunny days up Finland, we could rekindle our romance.
Did you get up to anything fun this weekend or have you got any jolly holidays planned for the Summer?
P.S. I've embarked on a new venture to become a Pinterest goddess. Aherm.. So if you're a user, come and show me some love. My shiny, new, Pinterest.
P.P.S. In the spirit of asking for things, if any PR peeps want to send me gin to review, I'd be 100% game. Please and thanks.
