The Organic Glow Beauty Lounge - The UAE's First Completely Green Ladies Salon

Founded in 2010 by  Leena Al Abbas, an Emirati business woman whose passion for living a green lifestyle and her love of beauty led her to open up The Organic beauty Lounge and through it, educate women about the benefits of using toxic-free, eco-friendly and cruelty-free products that are safe for everybody to use. 
Located in Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) in Oudah Tower, The Organic Glow Beauty Lounge offers a wide range of treatments, from ammonia-free hair care and sugar hair removal, right through to relaxing massages, fresh facials and toxic-free nail services. There really is something to suit everyone, with the salon also boasting packages and treatments for pregnant ladies and 'Eco Angels' (children) too. 

I went along last week to try out their bestselling Organic Glow Fresh Date Facial - A facial centered around the 'Wonder Fruit of Arabia!' Dates are synonymous with Arab culture and are rich in natural fibres, vitamins and minerals, all of which create a luxurious facial treatment. Plus, they also smell incredible!
The Date Facial started with a rose water cleansing and was followed by an exfoliating brown sugar scrub. A facial steamer was used to gently open up my pores and allow for a deeper cleansing, which whilst having benefits for the skin, also felt super relaxing. 
After the steam and an additional cleansing, it was time for an aloe vera, anti-aging cream which was carefully massaged into my skin. Whilst that was working its magic, Meseret, my therapist, gave me a relaxing scalp, arm and hand massage and was brilliant at answering my questions and explaining how The Organic Glow Beauty Lounge make many of their products in-house and fresh for each client on the morning of their treatment. It was clear to see that she was knowledgeable and passionate about organic, green skincare and I truly felt like I was in good hands. 
Next it was time for the date face mask to be applied - it was sweet and sticky and I had to resist the temptation to sneak a taste with my tongue. The lights were dimmed and Meseret left the room so that I could relax whilst the mask sat on my skin for 10 to 15 minutes. I was also given a cooling cucumber eye mask to revive my tired eyes, reducing puffiness and basically making me look like I hadn't stayed up all night scrolling Instagram. Result. 
After the mask was removed and a final cleanse of my skin done, a hydrating moisturiser was applied to my skin and I was good to go. The entire treatment took around 60 minutes. 
The big reveal was when I stepped out of the dimly lit treatment room and immediately rushed over to the salon's huge, floor mirrors to check out my face - I expected it to be red and blotchy as my skin is quite sensitive and that's usually the case whenever I have a facial; however I was gobsmacked - my skin was glowing! 
For the rest of the day I was told to leave my face and not apply any makeup or products if I could help it, to ensure that I got the best possible results from my treatment. It was hard to not keep touching my face as it felt incredibly smooth and soft, and I just couldn't believe how clean and clear my skin looked. That evening I did lightly cleanse my skin and apply a little bit of my usual moisturiser and it's safe to say my skin was still looking radiant the following day. I was thoroughly impressed. 
If you're looking for a bells and whistles salon in Dubai, this probably isn't for you as it isn't crammed with gadgets and fancy products, however, what The Organic Glow Lounge really makes a name for itself on is its admirable approach to caring for the environment and providing its customers with a wholesome, natural approach to beauty. The staff are warm and friendly and are keen to make you feel welcome, the decor is fun and quirky, full of reclaimed and recycled materials, and from the minute you step through the door, there's a genuinely positive atmosphere that is hard to beat.
