Abu Dhabi Eats - Caramel Sundown Brunch
If there's ever an oxymoron, 'Sundown Brunch' is pretty up there, but don't let the name put you off as there's a lot to be said for the way these things go out here in the UAE.
A couple of weeks ago, Scott and I decided to try out the Caramel Sundown Brunch located in The Collection, a restaurant and retail complex situated on Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Island. I had already sampled some of Caramel's menu previously and had high expectations for their much talked about evening brunch.
What drew us in initially was the price. 149 Dirhams (not inclusive of taxes) for three hours of all you can eat and drink shenanigans. Out here, that's what you call a bargain!
Food is served to the table in typical sharing style. There are eight dishes to tempt your taste buds and you can request as much as you like, as often as you like. I'll square up with you guys - I did single-handedly scoff a whole serving of the Mini Mac and Cheese which is absolutely to die for.
Also on the menu you will find Mini Kobe Beef Sliders which were juicy and tender, Caramel's Signature Chicken Lollipops with a blue cheese dipping sauce, perfect for those who like something a little more spicy and Mini Truffled Fish (seabass) and Chips served in paper, chip shop style. Each item was full of flavour and deliciously moreish. I understand why this place is such a popular dining spot.
If you fancy an alcoholic drink to wash all that food down, you can choose from selected wines, beers, spirits and prosecco. I had a gin, or six and it was good to see that the staff were attentive and quick to fill your glass up where needed.
With its lively atmosphere and great setting, it's a great place to kick-start your weekend and I know I'll be back again very soon!
The Caramel Sundown Brunch runs on Thursday and Friday evenings, 7-10pm and I highly recommend it for those looking for an affordable, yet fantastic evening out.
