Abu Dhabi Eats - Leopold's Of London
I'm back with another Abu Dhabi Eats post and this time the focus is on one of my favourite casual dining spots in Abu Dhabi - Leopold's Of London. Leopold's is essentially a cafe, but you won't find any greasy spoon style dishes here. The menu is more sophisticated than that, with ample choice and an extensive selection of specialty teas and coffees as well as a vast array of refreshing juices.
Leopold's Caesar Salad with a twist is one of my favourite dishes from the restaurant. The spicy dressing adds a unique spin on this classic dish and it's one I've ordered time and again. However, on this visit I opted for the Roasted Vegetable Sandwich which consists of sweet, roasted peppers, caramalised onions and topped with fresh mozzarella. You can pick from a selection of breads - I chose the sesame panini but the options also include; sourdough, plain panini bread and multi-grain bagels.
Scott chose to order two items - the Avocado and Cottage Cheese Toasty which features on the monthly specials, breakfast menu, however the staff were more than happy to prepare it for dinner, as well as the Harira Soup which is a Moroccan dish, packed full of tomato, chickpeas, lentils and spiced lamb.
As is our usual experience with Leopold's, our food arrived promptly and was well-presented. The portion sizes are generous and each dish is perfectly delicious. Our mains had more than satisfied us and there was little room for dessert, however having sampled some of their sweets before, I can safely say that their rich, flourless chocolate cake is a must. If you have the time, I also suggest ordering a pot of one of Leopold's specialty teas which are served on a candle-heated platter and include various sand timers to help you stew the perfect cup.
There are a number of Leopold's Of London cafes across Abu Dhabi and we chose to dine in the Boutik Mall branch which is located on Al Reem Island. The atmosphere of the indoor dining space is relaxed and stylish, plus there's a sizeable outdoor seating area for the cooler months. If you're looking for a laid back coffee shop with great food and plenty of choice, I really couldn't recommend Leopold's more.
