Too Faced Melted Metal Liquid Lipstick
I went onto Pinterest. Saw this image and decided that I needed to go out and purchase a metallic lipstick immediately.
This is pretty much how all of my make up purchases come to be. Pinterest, blogs and Instagram. Just imagine how much better off I would be if my Internet broke. Wait, don't even joke about that!
So anyhoo, I did a bit of dithering in Sephora and decided to pick up a Melted Metal Liquified Lipstick from Too Faced in the shade Melted Metallic Peony.
It's a warmer and darker pink than the Pinterest lipstick. There's tiny gold and pink shimmer particles running though it that give it more of a glossy, metallic sheen. I do wish Too Faced had gone all out with these liquid lipsticks and given them even more of a frosted, metallic finish. Whilst being very pretty, they air on the side of safe. I'm glad Metallic Peony is very much wearable even for a trip to the supermarket but I can't help but wish for full scale, visible from space, beam.
Be that as it may, I do really like this product from Too Faced.
The liquid lipstick has good pigment and applies evenly with the squeezy tube and soft, sponge-like applicator. It's not a mattifying formula and stays pretty creamy on the lips. Not glossy but more as you'd expect from a traditional, non-matte lipstick. The staying power isn't this lipstick's strong point though. It wears well for a couple of hours but then starts to fade and settle into lines.
That aside, I think the Melted Metal range is a fun idea and offers something a little different to your typical liquid lipstick. There's a whole bunch of shades to choose from, with brighter pinks, plums and purples. I would be intrigued to see them offer more true nude shades in the metallic range and a good red as I feel like this is what's lacking.
Have you tried any of the Too Faced Melted Metal Liquid Lipsticks? What do you think of Metallic Peony?
