Life Through A Lens 2016 #5

Goodbye May. Another month has flown by and now it's June which is the start of scary weather times in the Middle East and also Ramadan which is due to kick off in a few days.

Things will quieten down a lot over the holy month as people begin their fasting and take more time to pray and reflect. My only experience of Ramadan in the Middle East took place when Scott and I lived in Qatar; however this year I'd like to get more involved. Whilst you won't see me forgoing food and water during daylight hours, I really want to attend a traditional Iftar meal (to break the fast) and hopefully experience some of the Ramadan activities going on around town.

Anyway, let's take a look back over May and see what I got up over the last month.

Scott and I visited Dubai for a weekend where I managed to sneak in a lovely lunch with Stacey, Laura and Laura. Pie and Pimms was on the agenda and it was great to spend some time with the girls. We also attended brunch with our friends at the Al Qasr Hotel in Madinat Jumeirah where cocktails were drank in excess and some slightly dodgy karaoke happened later in the evening.

Scott's sister Hannah and her friend Karis payed us a visit mid May on the first leg of their travels to Australia. We hit the Bubbalicious brunch at the Westin Hotel in Abu Dhabi for the girls' first Middle Eastern brunch experience. We also participated in some touristy activities, visiting Sheikh Zayed Mosque and dropping in for lunch at Emirates Palace.

In May, Scott and I did some minor apartment decorating - i.e. attempted to hang a canvas we'd bought at Home Centre. Arguments, stress and damaged wall aside, I'm really enjoying our new home addition, even if it is hanging so precariously on the head of a nail that one strong gust of wind would knock it down.

My dad and brother flew out to join us in Abu Dhabi at the end of the month and are staying with us until the 4th of June. We sampled the Origins brunch at the YAS Viceroy hotel as well as hitting Ferrari World for a ride on the new, Flying Aces rollercoaster and taking them to our favourite spot for shisha, the Rosewood Hotel.

Okay, I've wittered on for far too long. I will end by wishing you all a fab June. Let me know what you got up to throughout May in the comments section below.
