April Favourites

April was a good beauty month. I fell hard for several products and become borderline obsessed with others. All in all, a roaring success.

Here's what made the cut:

Abu Dhabi Eats - Koi Japanese Restaurant

Living in Abu Dhabi, you're spoilt for choice with excellent eateries and 'five star' restaurants on every corner. When Scott and I decided to head out for an improptu dinner date last Friday evening, we thought we would try the hot off the heels from L.A. and highly commended  Koi  Japanese Restaurant situated in The Collection on Saadiyat Island.

Existential Blogging Crisis

Back in the early days of blogging I was a dedicated 'bed time' writer. I'd waffle into the notes section of my iPhone until the early hours and somehow come up with publishable content.

Since the world of blogging has shifted and everything seems to be a bit more serious these days, my late night writing sessions have subsided, but here I am trying to resurrect a bit of the old me. Because me, avec granny pants and heavy-duty poly-filler wrinkle cream is just the exciting visual that this blog has been lacking lately.

MAC New Romance Blush

This was one of those blog post inspired purchases. You know how it goes, you read about it online and then you simply have to have it.

This time it was Leah's fault from Devoted To Pink. If you're reading this Leah, you were the excuse that I gave to my husband. Sorry. And also thank you because I feel it may be life-changing.

In short, I love it.

The Tooth

The other day I found a tooth in my rug.

Daisy looked at me with a beady eye and so we came to the conclusion that it was hers. She's entered into what is most definitely the, 'teething phase' although I'm convinced said phase has been ongoing since she joined us.

The missing chunk of plaster on our bedroom wall can vouch for this. As can our shredded door frame and aggressively gnawed fingers.

She be but small and fierce - or something like that.

Shit My Husband Says #8

I failed at doing a thing.

So, remember in my last 'Shit My Husband Says' post, where I said I was going to ask around for all the funny things other people's partners had said - well, let's just say it never happened.

Fear not though as I have a whole back log of tantalising tidbits from the past month or so waiting to be shared with you guys.

Here goes...

Abu Dhabi Eats - Caramel Sundown Brunch

If there's ever an oxymoron, 'Sundown Brunch' is pretty up there, but don't let the name put you off as there's a lot to be said for the way these things go out here in the UAE.

A couple of weeks ago, Scott and I decided to try out the Caramel Sundown Brunch located in The Collection, a restaurant and retail complex situated on Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Island. I had already sampled some of Caramel's menu previously and had high expectations for their much talked about evening brunch.

Another Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani Blush Palette Review

Yes, everyone and their pet dog has given their thoughts and opinions on the whole Gwen Stefani / Urban Decay range, and I did briefly consider not featuring it on my blog but hey, I've kinda developed an intimate relationship, (read obsession) with one of the shades in the palette.

10 points if you can guess which.

When the eye shadow palette sprung onto the scene, I wasn't particularly interested. The packaging gave me lustful feelings but the contents left me feeling kind of indifferent. A nice palette, but not one that I would rush out and purchase.

The blush palette on the other hand is a whole other story.

My Husband Explains The Purpose of Make Up - Badly

Disclaimer - This post may make you wee your pants a little bit.

The other night as we were getting ready for bed, I decided to test my husband's knowledge of all things make up. Being a fan of the ol' slap, I was wondering how much, if anything at all, he had picked up from my long-standing love of beauty.

I decided to quiz him on the purpose and uses of various make up products to see what response I would get - and he didn't disappoint!

Charlotte Tilbury Skincare Edit - The Face Creams

Don't waste your money on either of these products!

I guess that's my 'in a nutshell' view of these face creams but let me tell you exactly why I think you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere.

Firstly, neither of these products come cheap. Charlotte's Magic Cream will set you back £70 whilst you'll need to part with an eye-watering £100 for the Magic Night Cream

Ouch!

When it comes to skincare, I don't mind investing in good quality, higher end products that work well but I found that both of these left me feeling disappointed.

Drugstore Haulin'

Gregg's Cheese and Onion pasties to one side, if there's one thing I really miss about living in the UK, it's a decent Boots.

Okay, yes... There are several Boots stores in the UAE but they're just not as good - in my opinion - as the ones back at home. Plus, no points, but don't get me started on that one!

It's been a while since I had a rummage through the 'drug store' and so, with a less than excited husband in tow, I went and hauled this lot.

Life Through A Lens 2016 #3

I know, I know... I'm late this month. Last week was an utter write off in terms of operating with any level of purpose or intent. I basically festered in my pjs for the entire week and let blogging fall by the wayside.

I've been playing a blogging cat and mouse catch up game since I returned from my holiday, and badly at that. Anyway, waffle aside, what I'm trying to say is sorry for being crap and here's a bunch of stuff I got up to during March for you to nosy at.

We had friends stay with us during the early part of March. We ate at the amazing Zuma Restaurant in Abu Dhabi and caught some of the Red Bull Air Race. March also saw some crazy storms across the UAE with strong winds and flooding. Not what I signed up for when I moved back to the Middle East!

Mid March, Scott and I went on our Honeymoon to the Maldives which was absolutely incredible. We made it back just in time to celebrate Easter with a little a lot of chocolate and a special Easter brunch at the St Regis hotel.

Yes, I'm going to say it again, I can't believe we've already made our way into April. This will be a quiet month for Scott and I before we start with the first of many family visits out to see us in May. Let me know what you got up to in March and if you're looking forward to anything in particular in April.

Without further ado...
