March Favourites

I almost forgot about posting my March Favourites. It's been a whirlwind month and in all honesty, I haven't really been mixing things up a lot in terms of my beauty routine. Most of my favourites this month are the beauty bits I was reaching for constantly whilst on holiday and since I've been back in Abu Dhabi.

Post Holiday Catch Up

Hello, hello... I'm back and feeling like I've been dragged through several hedges, backwards and somehow spat out the other side, several pounds heavier and with a perpetual need to nap in the middle of the day.

And no... I've not been teleported back to my student days!

If my barking about it on all forms of social media wasn't enough and you somehow managed to miss it, I spent the last week on holiday in the Maldives with my hubby. In all seriousness, it was the most incredible experience and I can't wait to share my photo diary with you all, but it's come pretty close to destroying me.

Okay, I exaggerate but an entire week, lazing around on sandy beaches has been horrifically exhausting.. sigh.. and I've really struggled to get back into the swing of things since we've been home. If lounging around in your pjs and eating chocolate was a sport, I'd be a pro.

Speaking of which, happy belated Easter wishes to those who celebrate it. Scott and I tagged our holiday onto the Easter weekend so we'd have a few days to get back into the swing of things - i.e. going out for happy hour drinks and stuffing our souls at the St Regis Saadiyat Easter Sunday brunch.

Lush Hair Saviours

Yes, Lush do in fact sell a whole bunch of other amazing products. It's not just bubble bars and bath bombs y'know!

I was lucky enough to receive some of Lush's Hair Care range several weeks ago and I've been putting them, and my tresses to the test ever since.

As it's my first time using hair care products from Lush, I wasn't sure what to expect. I've heard so much praise for their skincare line and bath products, but very little as to what they could do to tackle my frizz-prone mane.

So shall we look at what we have?

Abu Dhabi Eats - Zuma Japanese Restaurant

If someone was to suggest dining at a Japanese restaurant, typically I'd say no, or politely ask if we could go elsewhere. I'm not the most adventurous with food, and eating Japanese always springs up thoughts of raw fish and more seafood than I care to imagine.

Thankfully, I stepped out of my comfort zone to try out Abu Dhabi's award-winning restaurant, Zuma

And I'm so glad I did!

Also, make sure you read all the way to the end because I need your help with my next, 'Shit My Husband Says' post - *bats eyelashes*

Packing For The Maldives

Okay, I'm back with more Maldives chat. I'm not sure if this makes for an interesting read but I will be hammering you with pictures of beach and blue water upon my return, so be warned/excited/free to go elsewhere if travel snaps 'aint yo thang

Okay, we good?

So, as you're reading this - or as this post goes live, I'll be floating about somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean - hopefully with a large cocktail in my hand. If you caught my blog post on Wednesday, you will have seen that I was toying with the idea of posting a, 'What I'm Packing For The Maldives' type post. In the end I decided to go with it - so here's a peek at some of the things that have made their way out to paradise with me.

Chit Chat, Honeymooning (Again) and Go Pro Woes

I'm just going to put it out there, in approximately 24 hours, I'll be in the Maldives.

*Cue all the screams*

Ever since I was a teen, I would search for images of my favourite hotels and resorts in the Maldives and save them into a folder on my desktop - sad, yes but it really shows that when I say this is a dream come true kinda holiday, you can see where I'm coming from.

When Scott and I discussed where we would like to go for our honeymoon, the Maldives seemed like the obvious choice. White sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. I mean, it doesn't take much selling does it?

New In From Anastasia Beverly Hills

Before we begin, I just want to put it out there that I only went in for the Brow Definer.

I was in need of a new brow pencil as the NYX version I was using was a few smidges too light for my current hair colour. In fact, I was walking away to pay when I spotted a girl holding one of the new Glow Kits in her hands. How had I missed them?

What followed was a good 10-15 minute debate with myself over which palette to buy.

I went with Gleam (the silver one) after convincing myself I would buy the other for the Summer, and I think I've found my soul mate.

Lush Easter/Spring 2016

Yep, you're being treated to another Easter-themed blog post today! Can anyone guess what my second favourite holiday is after Christmas?

When it comes to seasonal product ranges, LUSH wins it every time. They're back again with another burst of bright, cheery products to enjoy; whilst stuffing your face with choccy egg.

Need I say more?

For The Love Of Easter!

I love Easter. Okay, okay... I know Easter is about so much more than chocolate eggs, but I can't help but get excited for all of the amazing treats that are available around this time of year.

I would sell my grandma for a lifetime's supply of Cadbury's Mini Eggs - just saying!

In the spirit of the season, I thought I would throw together a whole bunch of speggtactular, (Ha!) Easter ideas and posts to give you all the Easter-time eggspiration you need. (Okay, I'm done.)

Current Everyday Beauty Essentials

Hello, Hello... Hola!

So, we've had a few waffly posts of late but I'm back with more beauty products to tickle your beauty lovin' pickle. I thought I'd share with you my current everyday beauty essentials - the products I can't live without and that I've been slapping on my face, day to day.

Okay, we all know that's a lie because I definitely champion the make up free days quite regularly but when I do don the slap, here's what I'm usually reaching for:

Life's Lessons

Happy Monday everyone. Or, 'don't worry, you'll make it through the day' depending on how you view your start of the week. I've learnt a few things in the past week or so and thought it only fair I shared them with you guys.

Life's Lessons - Life in Excess Blog

Firstly, don't get onto ground-level with a puppy unless you're willing and prepared to have your nose bitten.

Laugh if you must, but I learnt a valuable lesson - in the park and in full view of the general public. Daisy, (our usually lovely Shih Tzu puppy) is still learning how to 'dog' and as a result, we've had some interesting incidents.

What I've Learnt In The First Six Months Of Marriage

When Scott asked me to marry him a little over two years ago, I never actually thought we'd end up being husband and wife.

Okay, that's not to say that I didn't think we'd get married or that we'd end up calling off our engagement. I'm just the kind of person that never really believes or feels like something is real until it's actually happening. I've got to live and breathe it.

I'm the same with holidays and Christmas. It feels like it's never going to happen and then BAM, it hits you.

Sitting here and staring at the title on my computer screen is really surreal. Scott and I have been married six months and yet it feels like only yesterday we were close to strangling each other over envelopes and table decorations.

Time flies and I thought it would be nice to look back and reflect on what, if anything, I have learnt in the first six months of our marriage.

Life Through A Lens 2016 #2

So, February has been an eventful month...

Scott and I hit one of our favourite, relaxed brunch spots in Abu Dhabi - Market Kitchen at Le Royal Meridien. It's a really great spot to visit as a couple and drink all the cocktails.

The weather has been a bit hit and miss this month, with lots of foggy mornings and surprisingly warm afternoons. The sunshine is definitely on its way back to the UAE and I'm looking forward to some long overdue pool days.

I tried out a new spa at the start of the month and you can read about my experiences here. My nails were in need of some TLC and a lick of Valentine's red polish. Scott and I had a laid back V-day as per. The boy bought me a huge box of Lush goodies though and reminded me exactly why I married him!

Mid-month, we jetted of to Doha in Qatar to visit some old friends and a spot of business for Scott. We had the best time and it felt so good to be back, visiting where we used to live and catching up with some of our favourite people.

The biggest news this month is that Scott and I welcomed Daisy the Shih Tzu puppy into our family! She's four months old, the fluffiest thing I have ever seen and an absolute sweetheart. We're still enjoying the delights of house training her.. aherm.. but she appears to be settling in well. Hands up, who wants a Daisy dedicated, picture-heavy blog post?

*waves own hand emphatically*

I hope you've had a fantastic February and here's to an even better March...
