Strobing | What Is It And How Can You Achieve The Look?

Every now and again a new beauty fad comes on the scene and us beauty lovers pick it apart with a shiny pair of tweezers. We've had 90's nudes and ombre lips, metallic tattoos which I may or may not have recently purchased, aherm, and it's the era of the browfie. But what of this new concept, Strobing?

So what is it?

Guys, disarm your bronzing brushes as Strobing is looking to be a big thing. It's the idea of adding lightness to the face by loading up on the highlighter and emphasising your features, but in a fresh, new way and without the need for heavy, often unnatural-looking contouring.

So What Can I Use To Achieve This Look?

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer Review
The product in my stash that immediately springs to mind is the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Illuminating Primer. You can mix it with you foundation for an extra touch of radiance or dab it along cheekbones and other areas you wish to brighten. It's a real multi-tasker and perfect for the Strobing trend.

Whether it be powder, liquid or cream highlighters that you use, the main objective is to create an otherworldly, luminous glow to your look. You can use any highlighting product that you have sitting in your make up drawers, so pick a shimmer that suits and get Strobing!

Where Should I Apply?

I'll keep this one short and sweet. Very much in the usual areas that you would highlight; across the cheek bones, down the centre of the nose and up onto the forehead, under and above the arch of the brow, atop the cupid's bow and lightly on the chin.

My Thoughts

I personally love this new concept. I'm a glow-getter at heart and for someone whose skin tends to lean on the dry and dull side, cheating a healthy glow is the reason I get out of bed in the morning. Okay, not quite but I'm always open to trying something new to achieve what life didn't bless me with.

Over To You...

Will  you be giving Strobing a whirl and could you ever really quit the contour? Do you think Strobing would work as part of an every day makeup look or should it stay in the pages of the magazines where it belongs? Let me know what you think.
