Valentine's Weekend

Valentine's Day started like any good, romantic day should... Ralph peed on our bed. I guess the excitement was maybe too much for him. I'm not usually one for letting the pigs loose in our bedroom but in the spirit of sharing the love, I thought we'd swap cards and gifts from the comfort of our sheets. I have to admire Ralph's shameless attitude; although ripping off bed covers at 10am is not the most ideal start to anyone's day.

Proving yet again that he does actually listen to me, (he's getting frighteningly good at this!) Scott surprised me with a nostril-pleasing box of goodies which I immediately knew contained a whole host of LUSH loveliness. I'd recognise that smell anywhere. He picked out some great products from the Valentine's holiday range and also a massage bar which gave me a tingle in my boobies because it's probably going to snatch a place in my top 3 LUSH products list. I'll spill all of the deets in another post coming soon.

As a Valentine's card for Hamish and Ralph clearly doesn't suffice, Scott and I set about making them a 'love cake' which sounds kinda crude but hear me out. I found a pig-friendly cake recipe online and with a few alterations, produced a masterpiece that I'm a billion percent sure Nigella would be proud of. It's a mixture of crushed guinea pig food, mashed banana, apple and oats, baked and garnished with coriander. It also went down an absolute treat...

A swift peek at my blogging stats led me to make my second unsavoury discovery of the day.

If there's a saying such as, 'any traffic is good traffic' then I'm sure that this applies but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly concerned as to how and why my blog link was featuring on pornogig.com. I made the rookie error of opening up the page too which led me to witnessing something that will probably take me a few years and several large gin and tonics to forget.

One particular aspect of our 'romantic' day that had been planned to a T was dinner. Neither Scott nor I enjoy eating out on Valentine's Day, so we decided we'd stay in and cook up an Asian-inspired menu to be washed down with several glasses, bottles of wine. We may have trashed our kitchen in the process and made enough food to feed a small army, but the outcome was better than both of us had hoped for. We stuffed ourselves into a stupor and spent the rest of the evening in a unified food-coma.

Chicken DimSum
DimSum, Vegetable Tempura and Spicy Spring Rolls
Due to the fact that it was blowing a gale outside yesterday, we held off until today to go on a relaxing walk around the harbour and through the local woods. The temperature seems to have dropped again and even today's mild breeze was giving me a serious case of brain freeze.

I suppose it beats staying in and cleaning all of last night's dishes!

Did you get up to anything special this Valentine's weekend?

    1. Thanks.. To be honest I think the majority of the credit goes to my fella. I had a bit of a temper tantrum trying to grease muffin cases and ended up guzzling wine and mostly observing. xxx

  6. This sounds like such a lovely Valentine's Day! I'm so happy I got a nosey after talking to you about your plans on Twitter!

I admit I did forget who Ralph is when I first read your post - for a terrifying second I got him and Scott mixed up, haha!

I am definitely going to try and make my own little cake for my guinea pig, Cotton. This looks like such a healthy treat and I'm always trying to discover new natural 'sweets' for Cotton to try.

    1. Ahh, how much greater would my story have been if Ralph was actually a human!? I think if Scott had wet the bed on Valentine's day, we may have been having words. I found so many quick and simple pig-friendly recipes online so it's definitely worth looking into. They loved tucking into their V-day 'cake' haha xxx
