Drug Store Hauling

Earlier this week I decided to pop down to my local 'drug store' and pick up a few every day make up essentials, (and spend some left-over birthday pennies!) I was particularly keen on getting my hands on a more cost-efficient foundation as I've been using up my Lancome Teint Miracle on trips to the shops, (and the rest of my foundation wardrobe is way too dark for my poor, sun-deprived skin)

Here's what I ended up with:

Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara (Black) - Okay, I'm not going to lie here, I partly bought this due to the pretty, pink packaging. Anyone else think that metallic pink would make a great nail varnish colour? Anyway, I've only tried this out once so far so more rigorous testing will follow soon!

L'Oreal True Match Foundation (C2 Rose Vanilla) - Whenever I need beauty product recommendations, I take to good, 'ol Twitter to fish for ideas and it was Charlotte from Vanity Fairest who told me I needed this foundation in my life. I'm glad she did as I'm already thoroughly pleased with how it works with my skin, especially when paired with...

Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer - This stuff is AMAZING! I've literally worn it once with the True Match Foundation and I was completely blown away. I almost walked away from it in the shop because it's quite scary looking, but trust me. This. Stuff. Is. The. Shizz. Fear not, a full review with pictures and swatches will be coming very soon!

Maybelline FIT ME Concealer (15 Fair) - I was hoping to pick up the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer; however they didn't seem to have it on sale so I opted for this instead. I think it's more lightweight than the Wake Me Up so we shall see how it works out. It swatched well in the shop so here's hoping.

No trip to the shops would be complete without an impulse buy. Last but not least...

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl (010 Silver) - I have absolutely no idea why I bought this, other than it was shimmery and pretty when I swatched it. It's seriously cyber-esque and I'm thinking I could perhaps incorporate it into a smokey-eye look for when I'm out on the alcopops, (which is never these days but hey ho!)

Also... drum roll please:

There was a cheeky Clinique freebie thrown in which I'm itching to get stuck into. Anyone else just love a sample?

...and that's your lot!

What are your thoughts on the bits and pieces that I picked up? Do you rate/hate any of these products or do you have any drug store must-haves to share with us all? Leave your comments below.

  1. I love the fit me concealer, really creamy and pretty good coverage. It's the only one I use lately because the collection 2000 one is always sold out in my colour! Damn bloggers for making it so popular!

    1. Haha, it's typical isn't it! So many bloggers rave about something and then you can never get your hands on it as a result! I've never tried the Collection concealer but I know everyone says it's fab. xxx

    1. Agreed... I love my high-end products but some of the high-street brands are proving to be stiff competition. I've been loving Maybelline so much lately. xxx

  3. Lovely purchases! I've been using that L'Oreal Lumi magique primer combined with the True match foundation as my base for over a year now, they really are a great pairing aren't they, so much so that I just don't want to stray away and experiment with others, haha! Also, I've heard so many positive thing about that mascara, I'll have to add it to my list :)

    1. Thanks Karen. It's funny that you've been using it for so long and it's the first time it seems to have made it's way to my local shop. We're obviously quite a bit behind on that one haha! I do like the pairing though and the mascara is well worth a purchase. My review will be up tomorrow so watch this space! xxx

  10. I love the L'Oreal True Match foundation! And now I really want to try the Maybelline mascara and L'Oreal primer too, I always end up buying mascaras due to their pretty packaging.
I actually think that we don't have the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in Finland at all :(. Every time I go to a store and ask about it some even say that they have never heard about it! That's why I always order a few from feelunique.com :)x

    1. Ahh, no way! Maybe I'll need to get it online. Last time I ordered from FeelUnique my package got confiscated by customs and I had to pay to get it released. I think it was something to do with taxes?! It's put me off from ordering from there since.

The products I've always been unable to find in Finland are the Maybelline Color Drama Lip Pencils. I had to pick mine up from Holland. xxx

    2. That happened to a few of my packages too that I ordered from FeelUnique. Then I realised that if I keep the order under 20€ it won't get held up at customs so that's what I do every time I order from there ;)

I actually called the Finnish Customs and asked why I had to pay to get the packages released and they said it's because Jersey isn't part of EU so you have to pay VAT... So annoying because I only read that they come from the UK, haha. xx
